Come to Copenhagen!
Although Denmark might not be the most obvious place to visit for a winter break, it offers a vast wealth of things to do without getting mobbed by stacks of tourists.
While it would be unfair to single out one of Copenhagen's landmarks as better than any other, particularly as the city is the capital of the world's oldest kingdom, it should be noted that the city's Amalienborg Palace is well worth a visit.
Built during the 18th century, the royal palace - or four to be precise - is the current residence of Denmark's royal family and contains a number of architectural wonders, including a statue by the sculptor Saly.
You'll even get to witness a changing of the guards if you come at noon.
Before you start to get the impression that Copenhagen is all about culture and history, its worth pointing out that the city has a vibrant night life, with a range of clubs that open from midnight to early in the morning. You're going to have a lot to do.
